The Importance of Having a Signature Label

I heard from a lot of people like, yeah, okay, maybe it is a scam financially at one level, but you're going to be on Subpop. At some point, it kind of doesn't matter if you're not making a ton of money, but your band is big, you end up being able to make money. I mean, if you could have been in the Subpop constellation of stars, if Sam Cook was ripped off by his record label at another level, he still Sam Cook, like he did okay. The Beatles, I think in the end, Alan Klein, bad as he was, those guys did okay. And I didn't sign with Subpop.
