The Importance of Results in Education

Pandemic catch-up is the big big big one. We'll see this summer when you get the first GCSE nail ever results that have been marked normally and more importantly probably the first set of SATs for primary school children who were not yet in school. The youngest kids you couldn't teach them over Zoom, they just missed out horrendously on all the basics so we don't know what's happened to them. At the other end of the age of upscale you've got the people Jill was talking about who disappeared from education that didn't come back or never regained it. It's amazes me that that's just kind of dropped out of the discussion that we have about education now
