The general definition of AKI is usually looked at with severity, which sometimes they will have stages. But that ultimately comes down to creatinine levels in the blood and urine output. So all the different clinical tools that can be used are based on those two parameters. And so as it gets worse, your creatinine goes higher up in your blood and your urine output gets lower and lower.
