The Higgs Field and the Big Crunch
If electrons suddenly got heavier, atoms would shrink into a smaller size. This is called the big crunch and it's the antithesis of the big bang. The Higgs field is balanced between its current state and the lower energy version of itself. That means that it poses a natural existential risk to us.
