Asteroid 10 kilometers across slammed into the Caribbean. Millions of tons of rock were thrown up into the atmosphere. Lots of molten quartz shot around the whole world. The asteroid made the earth get dark for about a year. Plants couldn't photosynthesize completely and so the dinosaurs died off.
