The Words of the Wisdom of Solomon
The writer of the epilogue, addressing a son, describes the words of the wise as like goads or nails. Their words can be depended upon because ultimately they come from one shepherd, from god himself. However it is very good to learn from the wise but there is a danger of going beyond their words. The preacher who sought out these things for himself undertook such a journey. But such a quest is not for every one to try at home. We must all recognize our limitations and few should undertake to think thing through from first principles for ourselves.
