When you have memory in a state where you're not too aroused or too shut down, pretiy, connected to another person, it opens up that memory to be reconsolidated. Reconsolidated means we don't really remember events. We remember the last time we remembered an event. So if every time you remember an event, you add a little bit ofcompass, the next time you remember it, there's little more compassion. And this is gradually how we digest events and make them turn them from, say, stains on our personality.
