Richard Powers' Political Vision Is Rooted in the History of Capitalism

Richard Powers' work is very compelling in terms of framing the contradictions of for capitalism. He's brilliant articulating the ways that corporations, especially chemical corporations can produce surplus life. I just think the way he ultimately frames how politics works sort of undercuts the idea division of like that we can do it do something about it. And gain in itself is an expansive piece of work, critically ambitious but I find his political vision distinctly rooted in this time.
