Empirically Treating an STI in the Emergency Department

There are some patient-related factors that would make me more inclined to treat empirically. If the patient has the potential for future greater risk of sequelae from an STI, such as they're pregnant and we're worried about risk of preterm labor or small-fertilational age infant. Unfortunately, there's no D-dimer for treating emergent STIs in the emergency department.
