In some ways, it makes intuitive sense why we would have these scripts. But in actual practice, they can be deeply destructive. The ones that are the most difficult to change and shift are the ones that have nse emotion attached to them. And so when we have really emotional experiences, or they go back in our family for generations, around money, that's when it can become really difficult to change our relationship with money.
Money worries are one of the biggest sources of anxiety in the lives of Americans. This week, we kick off our new "Money 2.0" series with psychologist Brad Klontz. He says that while external economic forces often shape our financial well-being, our unconscious beliefs about money also contribute to how well we manage our money.
