Julia Roberts plays an art history teacher at Wellesley in the 50s. Julia Styles's character honestly exists to get into Yale Law School, decline because she wants to get married and then give a speech on the front porch about how all women deserve choices. The lessons of the movie don't make any sense. It's absolutely preposterous. And by the way, a not good movie for which the arts was paid reportedly $25 million.
