Socialism Bounced Off the Peasants Like Pea's From a Wall
In the late 1800s, a group of young radicals went to Russia and tried to overthrow the monarchy. The peasants were not impressed with these outsider kids from the get-go even when they weren't total cosplay clowns. One going to the people's student remarked that socialism "bounced off the peasants like peas from a wall" Most of the students ended up being rounded up by the police and often punished or executed.
