The Importance of Transcendental Experience
The Irish experience of faith, it was not for all that it is regarded in the world as being very strong. In modern times, it was a very crude concept, I mean, very moralistic, but in a nonbalanced way. The scandals erupted in the 90s, people just use them as a pretext to be able to say, I'm gone now and finished with religion. They had finally an excuse for why they didn't have to go to Mass on Sunday morning. And really what happened, I believe, was that faith waned and consciousness waned.
