Is There a Difference Between East and West Africa?
There is a sense of new opportunity in that direction because it's something that wasn't as easy to explore beforehand. New paths open up thanks to climate change which is affecting, for example, the central African rainforest. Also I think maybe about how the communication channels between East and West might have affected this. So if we say that knowledge of ironworking was spread from West to East Africa, then there is obviously some kind of communication. And that knowledge might have something in it that's attractive to those people who decide to go East rather than South down the Atlantic.
