Their interpretation of what OOP is very narrow and it's a great example of that sort of stateful argumentation. They pick OOP as the way to talk about imperative programming and then don't really talk about the imperative aspects of OOP. So yeah, I think they clearly don't like to opt into objectorion programming and their answer is functional relational programming. This is the model of what the essence of programming is as much as we can get at it.
