The Importance of Routine Expertise in Adaptive Coaching

Routine expertise is where an individual is capable of consistently repeating the same thing okay yeah whereas adaptive expertise would be the individual's capacity to recognize that the routine doesn't fit or doesn't work. Are we hierarchically putting adaptive expertise above routine expertise right and this is the really interesting bit for me at the moment? We sometimes fall into a trap in coach development of unintentionally presenting routines as the way when in fact what you have to do is to have the ability to adapt but also to recognise the need to adapt. Can either of you put in practical terms what routine routine expertise might look like versus adaptive expertise I guess um?"
