The key thing in this passage is that we have that question of synthetic knowledge, a priori. And so he's hoping for the philosophers of the future to want to rise and not return. The reason why this is important is that Kant's question is how are synthetic judgments a priori possible because it's kind of counterintuitive,. He comes to the conclusion it's by virtue of a faculty.
