The Key to a Good Life Is the Attachment to Others
When we talk about poor people or poverty, we really ought to add a clarifying phrase, material or monetary poverty. A monetarily poor community is very rich in social capital and in relationships. In that bell shaped curve, the key to somebody having a good life is the attachment they have to each other. We're very clever animals. It's just that we unfortunately have got ourselves into a backwater. If you put all those things together, human beings flourish.
