Bret and marget is a wonderful text book example of motivated reasoning, isn't it? You start off with the iron clad belief that whatever the twin towers were brought down by space born lazers. Then you try to contort your understanding of the rest of the world to fit that premise. And then the conspiratorial reasoning allows you to float off completely untethered by reality testing. It's also that point that you have to discredit all sources of epistemic authority, right?
