It's said that he and his men found the so-called weeping ridge and rained arrows down on Daemon Blackfyre's position. So you can see the exaggeration right there. He has 300 archers with him. How is it possible that he's personally responsible for all three of these deaths? It is possible. But mostly the perception comes from the people around him and the realm rather than him being the guy that says, hey, everybody, I know magic, watch out for me.
