The Wild West of Programming

I called it the Wild West because there really wasn't anything to go by. You had a co-bond manual and you had trial and error. My mentor was a guy called Ed, who showed me programming in that environment. He would run the end of the year when Rachel closed, by pulling a card deck out of his drawer. There were not many structured methods. People just devised the best way to code.
