In Poland, the parliament appoints judges and the president ceremonially swears them in. In 2015, when the parliament appointed new justices to Poland's highest court, Andrida Duda stuck his fingers in his ears because he didn't see any judges. He was hoping that if he held out for a few months, his party would take over the parliament too.
