The Role of Music Synesthesia in Perception

Not all people with music synesthesia have their percepts triggered by a pitch, a note. For some people it's the interval between notes like a chord that matters. One woman uses these synesthetic associations to identify which chord was just played. And synesthesia can also be triggered by an instrument's tambour, the way that it sounds.
