The Importance of Physical Integrity of the Acting Priests
The laws concerning marriage insured the holiness of the seed of the priests. Priests who were disabled or blemished were permitted to participate in the holy food that was given to the priests, but they could not serve in the holy place or at the altar. For you, the importance of those approaching the presence of god being without blemish is best understood in terms of the analogy between physical integrity and moral integrity.
