Is There a Cultural Aversion to the Fungal Queendom?

i'd love if you could elaborate on what has historically let uce, or led, so many western european cultures to develop such disrespect and devaluation of fungi. Most people instruct their children never to touch a mushroom. There's only one known fungus that's extremely rare and only occurs in japan that is not youare not able to touch.
