The Smell of Spring
People the world over both like and loathe the same smells. Smell studies are typically focused on western participants, usually living in big cities. Astromoged from the university of oxford has been finding out that it's not a cultural thing at all. Only six per cent of the data could be explained by culture. And then there were some individual differences too, but culture plays a very small role. Our sense of smell is very sensitive to things that could be going wrong. We can smell fire from a distance, or the fact that the milk is going off.
