The 11th Division's Battle for the Philippines

The 11th they're born sailed for the Pacific in May of 1944. MacArthur's campaign specifically had started pushing essentially if you would out of Australia across New Guinea and was kind of swinging around towards Japan, right? The idea was that they would then swoop up and down the west coast to cut off the Japanese reinforcements. And very quickly they got tapped to move into Leyte's central mountain range.
