The Probability of the Wave Function
John von Neumann tried to make a mathematically clean account of what was coming out of Copenhagen. He found that this fundamental object in quantum mechanics behaves in two completely different ways. When it does that, it doesn't behave linearly. It's no longer deterministic. That's where the probabilities come in,. Two systems in the very same identical quantum state could then diverge because one collapses a certain way and the other collapses a different way.
