The BEA's Final Report on the Fan Hub Accident
The BEA did an investigation and they actually just released their final report in September of 2020. They found a fragment of the fan hub in South Greenland under the ice 21 months after the accident. This crack caused a failure that happened after only 1,650 cycles. The engine manufacturer has since designed a new blade lock ring to help keep the fan blades for breaking apart.
