What Is Ideology in Foreign Policy?
There is an anti-democratic feeling in China and a feeling that their system is superior to that of the state. And the ideological element is not really there, I'd have thought,. or maybe you think it is, because obviously it's lip service to communism now. What does China want today? To return to centrality, to global politics. The means may be different, but the aim is still the same. Today's China is more successful at this task than Mao Zedong's China.
