The behavior of this in JavaScript or the this keyword is kind of different than almost any other object oriented programming language that uses this. I think people mostly get confused about what happens when you invoke a method in JavaScript and whether and whether it's with apply or call or bind, for example. It really depends on how you invoke that function. So I I stand with Crockford in that I believe it sounds like a political statement. Just don't use this.
