Do Bears Sleep All Winter?
Black bears hibernate for four to five months in the winter. They get fat so their bodies have enough energy to allow them to sleep all winter. When they come out of hibernation, cubs are still not fully weaned but can walk and climb. If you share your trash with black bears, try to keep it away from garbage cans.
