When Monique Kreis booked a one-way ticket to London from Australia, she felt called to make a leap - much like when she moved alone from Australia to Tasmania. But London’s gray weather didn’t convince her to stay, and after listening to her best friend’s advice, she secured a Workaway opportunity and booked a ticket to Tuscany, Italy. Following a long-held passion for food, Monique split her time between remote work for Australia and her Workaway tasks - and, while exploring this new lifestyle in Tuscany, she met an Italian guy in the most rom-com moment possible.
But Monique’s journey isn’t just about a love story. In this episode, we talk about what drove her to move to Italy so spontaneously, her love of food, the challenges of adapting to a new culture, the importance of independence in relationships, the beauty of romanticizing life, and the power of asking for opportunities.

Why the name “Transplants”?
I've always loved the meaning this word can have. To be a transplant is to carry one life while learning to live another.
