I Don't Show Up Because I Decided to Show Up
We live in a culture that is doing just about everything it possibly can to negate that reality. When I have to cope with shame, it moves me toward taking. And then my eyes are opened by something else by. So even shame itself, even my awareness happens because something else brings that awareness to me. Shame leads toward our hiding as a natural response. First it begins with fig leaves and then they go into the woods. They were naked and unashamed.
