Is the Fed Controlling the Price Level?
Nortan: We live in a world where monetary policy still has independence and there's not fiscal dominance. So it makes sense to think about the fed having control and guiding nominal demand and inflation, he says. Nortan: If we were headed down that road, particularly if the inflation stays high, so the cost of financing the deficit is much higher than we were anticipating, you know, there's room for the bet to speak loudly about that. I think not right now, not o six months sure, an election.
