Before they take systems hostage, they steal important information like customer data. And then if people don't want to pay up, they threaten to release it. Everything changed for them in february when the group took a stand on the russian invasion in eukrane. It said it supported moscow, just a day or two later, a new account appeared on twitter, calling itself canti leaks. And it provided a leak to something extraordinary, tens of thousands of internal messages, or chat locks.
