The days when it was enough just to send in some grey-haired chap to have a look at what they're doing and reassure the public that it's all fine are really passed. People now expect verification, they expect accessibility,. They expect some ability to evaluate for themselves whether these powers are a good idea or not. I think what we've seen over the last couple of years is that it is possible to achieve that without jeopardizing national security. And it's possible to row back on certain powers that aren't needed by bringing in more and more powers.
