Is There a Bicarb Difference Between ABG and VBG?

When we order a test when an arterial blood gas or a venal blood gas is ordered the instrument will measure a pH and the partial pressure of carvonda outside of PCO2. Using the Henderson-Hannell-Bak equation will calculate the bicarb. So when an ABG or VBG is reported the bicarbonate was not measured it's just calculated. Conversely when you obtain a basic metabolic panel you the lab reports a carbon dioxide.
