Burke's Role in the Murder of Mary Dockarty
Hair told the jury that Mary Dockarty had been enticed to come back inside each time by none other than Helen McDougall. The defense attorney, Henry Cockburn, who saved her from having to hang. Margaret Laird was involved in the whole scheme but she got no consequences. Burke's body was donated to a medical college and dissected before an audience of nearly 20,000 people.
