Are Cats Beloved in Mediaeval Culture?

Mediaeval people had a lot of emotional closeness with their dogs. Dogs were held up as symbols of fidelity and loyalty. Even nuns seem to have kept dogs. One of my favourites of animal related mediaeval boks is called the master of gamend. It's a text book on hunting written by edward duke of york in the early 14 hundreds kery. And some of my favourite names are smile fest, clench, hold fast, nose wise and nameless.
