In 1995, there was a case called Stratton Oakmont out of New York. Basically it involved a carrier like an AOL that had message boards. If I publish something defamatory in the New York Times, you can sue me. They are treated as the speaker. On the other hand, if I write a book of defamatory crap, and do you remember bookstores, right? Barnes and Noble.
