The Rise and Fall of the Klan
In the 1920s, there were over four million members of the KKK. But after a series of scandals, membership started to dwindle and it entered the 1930s much weaker. The Klan emerged from the ashes again in the 1950s, in opposition to the civil rights movement. In 1954, when the Supreme Court ruled that racially segregated schools were unconstitutional, violence spread across the south.
