In the middle of the night, she woke up unable to move. Through the darkness, she saw Jane standing at the edge of her bed saying, Mommy, help. Over and over. This made my heart drop right into my stomach. Even now, tenish years later, I get the same feeling of uneasiness deep in my chest.
