How Do Negative Beliefs Affect Depression?
The core of depression is this kind of whole negative way of looking at oneself. And each time one makes ae interpretation, it kind of reinforces the negative image. Once the belief is already embedded in the patient's psyche, then it affects one's mood. If you feel that you're bad and everything is going wrong in you and that you're no good, you're going to feel sad. So there's a definite sequence from the way you view yourself to the way you interpret your experiences to the how you feel and the way you behave.
