Organo Phosphate Poisoning

The diagnosis of organo phosphate poisoning can often be made by history, physical exam and an atropine challenge. Decontamination is essential to prevent further exposure to the patient via contaminated clothing or residue on the skin. It is critical to remember that the treating health care provider should wear appropriate p p e to prevent contamination. The airway should be controlled using a non re breather mask with section available to clear secretions as necessary. Patient should be treated in a monitor setting with cardiac monitors and pulsoc symmetry.
