The Struggle to Find Employment as a Disabled Person

She came from an upper middle class family, a white family. But when she tried to break into the world of employment in the 1970s and 80s as a blind person, she found it very difficult. And really sort of wrote strongly from the perspective of a psychologist. She wanted to be more than a disabled person at the same time that she was very much embraced the identity of disability.
