The Destruction of the Babylonian Library

We've got something like 20,000 fragments of clay tablets from it. Probably amount to six or seven thousand hole tablets if we could join them all up. wax-covered writing boards were hugely used in the seventh century in Assyria and in Babylonia. These things were lighter and easier to transport to Assyria than clay tablets. And this library, of course, was the first such library in human history.
