Is Consciousness Coming Along for the Ride as Artificial Systems Get More Intelligent?
There's this idea that there will be some threshold at which the lights come on for these a i systems, and they're not only intelligent, but they're also aware. I'm going to call it it's bull shit. Consciousness is not the same thing as as intelligenceut certainly, i think that many other animals that are not humans, not even primates, have conscious experiences. They have different ones. And if it did happen, it would be ethically, absolutely catastrophic. In fact, i think its an inevitable situation that has already been explored in great films like alex garland's ex macina. Maybe consciousness is something you can simulate. It can't be ruled out
