Orwell's Life
Allan johnson is that rare thing, a senior british politician and former trade union chief with almost no enemies and friends on all sides. He wanted to be like him only in the sense that he was fiercely courageous and kind of stuck up for the working classes. And amazingly, really amazingly, don't you think no recordings whatever, beyond still photographs exist of orwells, who we cannot hear him speak, we cannot see him move? But to give us a better idea of orwell as a man, we have jean seton. Jean's a professor of media history at the university of westminster and the director of the well prize - which rewards political journalism.
