The Social Model of Disability

Disabled people are not miserable wretches whom society must drop everything in order to help but merely one of many interest groups in a democratic pluralistic society. I actually like Barns' book because she spends much of her time arguing that disabled people are not unhappy. It would be a terrible Harrison Bergeron-esque world if we attempted to ensure that no social good could be pursued until everybody was equally happy with their treatments and help.
